Beginning in 1966, residents of Point Pleasant, West Virginia described sightings of a terrifying creature they dubbed “Mothman” – a demonic bird with the body of a man, ragged bat wings, and glowing red eyes. Multiple witnesses claimed to have seen the creature, with stories of UFOs and even “Men in Black” threatening witnesses into silence.
This continued until December 15, 1967, when Point Pleasant’s Silver Bridge collapsed, killing 46 people. From that day, Mothman was never seen again.
Was Mothman responsible for the disaster? Or was he trying to warn of the coming catastrophe?
Check out the 2002 feature film, The Mothman Prophecies, for an interesting take on these events.
